Ice fishing rods & reels

Even though there are some differences between ice fishing rods & reels and rods & reels that are used for other kinds of fishing, there are many similarities as well.
In fact, it is correct to assume that rods & reels used for ice fishing have more things in common with normal rods & reels than they have differences.
One of the main similarities is that the rods & reels both use the same kind of fishing line to catch fish. The fishing line must be able to not only hold up to a lot of tugging on behalf of the fish as well as the fisherman, but the line must also be able to endure extreme temperatures without being affected. Almost all fishing line is just as effective in the sun as it is underneath the ice.
One of the main differences between ice fishing rods & reels and other kinds of rods & reels is the size of the rods. Typical fishing rods can be several feet in length.
On the other hand, ice fishing rods & reels are very rarely more than three feet in length. In fact, they are often only about 24 inches long.
Having rods this small allows the ice fisherman more room to move his arms and get directly on top of the hole from which he is fishing.
Ice fishing rods & reels are typically made to be just as durable as typical rods & reels. Thanks to the fact that durability is a high concern among the manufacturers of ice fishing rods & reels, these reels rarely break.
